The fund invests in key technologies in the fight against climate change. Traditional energy- and environmentally intensive industries also need to change. Therefore, the fund also invests in companies that make environmentally harmful processes more sustainable.

Sustainability labels give investors an overview of investment funds and guarantee uniform standards. With the Austrian Ecolabel and the three-star FNG seal, ERSTE GREEN INVEST bears two of the most important seals for sustainable funds in the German-speaking world.
Which companies are invested in?
The investments focus on sectors and companies that offer solutions in the fight against climate change and can "mitigate" its consequences. Here are some examples of sustainable companies in which the fund invests.

Sunrun (solar energy systems)
The U.S.-based company Sunrun offers households new ways to use solar power systems on their homes.
Customers don’t have to pay for the systems upfront. Sunrun combines solar panels with batteries. These systems provide protection against power outages, for example after extreme weather events.
Xylem (water treatment)
The U.S. company Xylem is a leading water technology company.
Xylem offers a wide range of technologies, including fresh drinking water treatment, water-saving solutions for agriculture, industrial pumps, and wastewater treatment plants that clean sewage and generate biogas.
The company also builds conventional hydropower turbines and heat exchangers to recover heat from wastewater.
Tomra Systems (recycling technology)
The Norwegian company Tomra Systems is a leader in the circular economy.
This means it uses raw materials efficiently. At the heart of the company are optical sensors. These sensors detect material properties and precisely separate different materials. Tomra Systems helps to reuse used packaging and materials.
Orsted (wind turbines)
The Danish company Ørsted was once a traditional energy company, active in the oil and gas business.
In 2009, the company changed its strategy with the goal of transforming its energy mix. At that time, 85% of its energy came from fossil fuels. By 2040, the aim was for 85% of its energy to come from sustainable sources, with the remaining 15% from natural gas.
The strategy was later adjusted due to strong progress. As early as 2025, all of Ørsted’s energy is expected to come from sustainable sources.
Ørsted is a role model for transformation in the field of energy production.
Trane Technologies (cooling systems)
The Irish-based industrial company Trane Technologies operates in sectors that are crucial in the fight against climate change.
Its various subsidiaries offer solutions in the field of cooling. The product range includes air conditioners, refrigerators, commercial cooling units, and smart home cooling applications.
Trane Technologies has launched a sustainability program. By 2030, all production is to become climate-neutral. The company also aims to significantly reduce its energy consumption in a sustainable way.

In 2023, 22 million households were supplied with energy from renewable sources.
