Investing green
ERSTE GREEN INVEST is an equity fund focusing on companies in the field of environmental technologies. The focus is on the five focus themes: Energy, Water, Waste & Recycling, Transformation and Adaptation.
The portfolio therefore includes companies from a wide range of sectors such as water treatment, waste management and producers of renewable energy.
Investments are thus made in important technologies in the fight against climate change. In order to make the economy sustainable, traditionally energy and environmentally intensive sectors in particular must change. The fund therefore also invests in companies that are among the pioneers when it comes to making the environmentally harmful processes of the "old economy" more sustainable.
Please note that investing in securities entails risks as well as the opportunities described above.

Investment in environmental technologies
ERSTE GREEN INVEST invests worldwide in companies that are among the pioneers in the field of environmental technologies. The fund aims to achieve a measurable, positive impact on the environment with its investments. The focus is on the following five themes:
Energy
Energy efficiency and renewable energies to achieve the Paris climate targets
Water
Protecting water for a secure supply and functioning ecosystems
Waste & Recycling
Recovering resources through recycling, avoiding CO2 and other environmental damage
Transformation
Leader in the transformation of environmentally harmful processes of the "old economy" for a clean, sustainable future
Adaption
Adaptation to the unavoidable consequences of climate change to protect people and the economy
Promising companies may not be investable for sustainability reasons. However, it is not yet possible to predict which companies will benefit most from this trend in the long term.
Certified sustainable investing
Sustainability labels give investors an overview of investment funds and guarantee uniform standards. With the Austrian Ecolabel and the three-star FNG seal, ERSTE GREEN INVEST bears two of the most important seals for sustainable funds in the German-speaking world.
Which companies are invested in?
The investments focus on sectors and companies that offer solutions in the fight against climate change and can "mitigate" its consequences. Here are some examples of sustainable companies in which the fund invests.
The companies listed have been selected as examples and do not constitute an investment recommendation. There is no guarantee that the securities will be permanently included in the portfolio.
Sunrun (solar energy systems)
The US company Sunrun offers private households innovative usage models to benefit from solar power systems on their homes without having to pre-finance them.
By combining solar systems with battery technology, Sunrun's systems offer protection against power outages, for example after extreme weather events.
Xylem (water treatment)
The US company Xylem is one of the leading water technology companies. The company's technologies range from the treatment of fresh pure and drinking water, water-saving agricultural irrigation solutions and industrial pumps to wastewater treatment plants in which Xylem not only treats wastewater but also uses it innovatively to produce biogas.
The company also builds traditional hydropower turbines and heat exchangers to recover the heat contained in wastewater.
Tomra Systems (recycling technology)
As a pioneer in the circular economy, the Norwegian company Tomra Systems has made the efficient use of raw materials its business model. At the heart of the company are optical sensors for detecting material properties for the clean separation of different resources.
The company thus offers a crucial link in the raw materials chain for returning used packaging or materials back into the resource cycle.
Orsted (wind turbines)
The Danish Orsted Group was originally a traditional energy company and thus active in the oil and gas business. In 2009, however, the company announced a comprehensive change in strategy. The aim was to radically change the energy mix, 85% of which was generated from fossil fuels at the time. By 2040, 85% of energy generation was to come from sustainable sources and the remaining 15% from natural gas.
This strategy has now also been adjusted due to the advanced stage of implementation. The aim is for all energy to come from sustainable sources by 2025. With its exemplary transformation, Orsted is taking on a pioneering role in the field of energy generation.
Trane Technologies (cooling systems)
The industrial company Trane Technologies is based in Ireland and is active in a number of sectors that are relevant for measures to combat the effects of climate change. The various subsidiaries of Trane offer solutions in the field of cooling. The product line ranges from air conditioners, refrigerators, commercial refrigeration units to smart home cooling applications.
As part of a sustainability program that has been launched, the entire production is to be climate-neutral by 2030 and the Group's energy consumption is to be sustainably reduced.
